Undergraduate Archives Research Award
Overview
Each year, the College Archives & Special Collections offers a $500 award to the best undergraduate research paper or academic project (including, but not limited to, creative writing, artwork, websites, and exhibits) that is based substantially on College Archives & Special Collections materials.
Guidelines
All entries must represent work created for a SUNY Potsdam academic class or independent study.
All entries are required to be accompanied by an entry form cover sheet which includes submission information and a faculty recommendation.
Non-research paper entries must be accompanied by a 500-1,000 word Project Paper that describes source selection and use.
Entries are to be submitted directly to the College Archivist, and can be submitted either electronically or as a hard copy.
The deadline for entry submission is March 15, 2013, and all entries need to have been completed during an eighteen-month period preceding the deadline.
All entries will be reviewed by a committee headed by the College Archivist and composed of other library faculty and staff.
Award recipients will be presented the award at their respective school’s Honors Convocation.
As acondition for accepting the award, the student will allow their work, or an appropriate copy of their work, to be placed in the College Archives and managed under College Archives & Special Collections policy. Â Additionally, they will allow their work to be displayed in appropriate venues and to be publicized in College Archives promotional materials.
